Television is made up of simply broadcast and cable networks, but it tends to have a mind of its own. It provides the same experience to everyone has they can relate to different shows. There is positive reinforcement on various tv show created for children as "Sesame Street". It's also a visual teacher for many children, teenagers and even adults. What is the importance of television? Could this be a better world if we didn't have t.v. ?

Okay think about it, when your three you would watch Sesame street. In your subconscious it goes like this, screen = fun so you keep watching it . You are right it does good qualities (I like it too) but just don't watch too much. Also don't watch the things you know are bad (you can set parental controls, even when you are the the only one! lol!!). It would be great if we didn't have televison too. The link goes to the episode guide to the Simsons (talk about bad television!), click on the season two and you will see Homer sleeping next to some books, click the one that says 209. the show reminded me of your Question.

The importance is information and entertainment. In some ways though, yes this could be a better world without television due to the number of crimes committed because of the influence of t.v.

T.V. is how people see if a problem you have shows up and is re-enacted to show you how to go about it....or it is an escape form the real world for some people. I think the world wouldn't be too different if t.v. weren't around....

Television networks are intended to provide news and to entertain. Many networks seem to make their own news--that is, bend the news stories to suit their own purposes and to affect public opinion

Television is both for entertainment and information. People can get addicted to it, but without it we wouldn't know what was going on in the world.
