Are you talking about moving to the beach? The BEST beach? or what? Because of course the entire coast of NC and the outerbanks are all beach. That mostly depends on what you want from a beach.

The Outer Banks are very remote. You'll be able to collect a lot of shells, do some fishing, and likely not see too many other people.

Atlantic Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure, and Topsail are all very popular beaches.

But if you want a beach with lots of stuff to do and places to eat/see, why don't you go to Virginia Beach? It's only about 3 hrs from DC.

I would say the beach at cape hatteras. It is large, uncrowded, and near a beautiful light house. It is only a few hours away from D.C.
