I mean he got (and still gets) as much media coverage as the Pope or the Queen Mother got when they shuffled off their mortal coils. And what do our troops get for dying in Iraq and Afghanistan? Two sentences on a news bulletin stating that a soldier has been killed, and a further two the following day stating who he or she was and their regiment. And that's it!
This world's gone insane. Enough of the Hammond fella and his ilk already!

would you feel the same way if you survived a life threatening accident

I agree, it is not a case of dismissing the accident as `nothing`, of course Hammond was hurt and I am very glad that he recovered so quickly. In view of the way the accident was reported, many of us wondered if he ever would recover. We were told in hushed tones from outside the hospital, that he may not make a full recovery and it was some what hyped-up, the next we know, he is up and about and receiving visitors. In my view this `hype` be-littled Hammond, and I am sure that this was not received well by him or his family. He is a very like able guy and his very presence adds glamour and excitement to the show. I am sure that half the women who watch the program do so because of him.Now he is back to work, let him get on with it. ( Carefully !!!)

specific, i might. He has now had 3 crashes (the single which just about killed him, one a 12 months later whilst the automobile skidded off the song on a similar time as filming and this contemporary one), so going with the help of the belief issues take place in 3's, it will be secure! techniques you, that isn't thinking the helicopter incident the place he and Jeremy had to make an emergency touchdown. So possibly not - in fact, if I have been him i might stay nicely far from any sort of automobile!

He's a great guy and Top Gear is one of the best and funniest programmes on television. This nation cares about people who bring us pleasure and Richard Hammond and his co presenters certainly do that.

We all need a bit of cheering up after watching news about wars and turmoil in the world.

It was a miracle he survived and is as 'untouched' as he is.

My ex-husband was punched once and suffered a blood clot on the brain and he lost his memory, many of his senses, his personality changed and it ended up in us splitting up.

To have gone through the crash that the Hamster went through, suffering head trauma and to survive is wonderful. And for his relationship with his wife to survive is also a miracle with statistics putting divorce following head trauma at 50%

We don't often have good news stories so why shouldn't we enjoy them when they do happen. No disrespect to our soldiers out there but we don't celebrate life enough.

We need more good news.

It's called "the cult of celebrity."

I'm sure the "hamster" is a delightful chap, even if he can't drive and can't handle a jet-powered vehicle, and on that basis, I'm happy that he survived and will continue to amuse us.

Same with Clarkson really, who is a total numpty as a driver, unlike the Stig, who isn't.

Anyway, as a 57 year old truck driver, I want to have a go at the festest lap in that hideous little car, because I have this left-foot-braking technique which I reckon would blow them all into the weeds.

If I die in the attempt, they can show it on TV, and no-one will care because I'm not famous.

I agree, but it's just like everything the news community touches, they spin it, coddle it, screw it up and take words out of context...
i am convinced that if these people would be held to a higher standard we would all be better off.......

It was a bit of a miracle he survived it with not much evidence of lasting damage to himself!

I agree, he got into a car to drive fast, unsurprisingly he crashed. I'm glad he's OK but let it go ! I haven't seen footage of the crash and wouldn't want to but I believe thousands tuned in ......why?!
