Your country is violent and this reduces the freedom of the people who have to live in this part of the cities. 37 million Americans live without health care. There are more and more homeless every day. You are not free when you follow everything your president says like sheep to the sloughter. Your elections are basically mud slinging festavals. Most of you know little of the rest of the world and are very quick to go to war or have your CIA break all laws to manipulate other countrys which, to name a few include the Middle East, Chili (Pinocete), Guatamala (United Foods), Mexico, Philippines, Honduras, Panama, Canada, etc. You also harbour terrorists such as the KKK, Arian Nations. Neo-Nazis etc. I would never like to live in the states. So many of your cities are like war zones - Little Cuba, Watts etc

Norway still the world's best place to live

For the fourth year in a row, the United Nations has ranked Norway as having the highest standard of living in the world. Sweden, Australia and Canada are next in line, while the United States is further down the scale.

The report measured standards of living in 177 countries around the world. Other Nordic countries also ranked high, with Iceland in 7th place, Finland 13th and Denmark 17th.

The annual ranking is based largely on average levels of education and income, combined with expected length of lifetime.

Researchers for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) also weighed countries' degrees of cultural freedom in their analysis. They called cultural freedom a "basic human right," and awarded high scores in this year's UN Human Development Report to countries that accept immigrant cultures in addition to their own.

The United States landed in eighth place on the list, while France, for example, was 16th.

So this article proves that the U.S. is clearly not the best place to live regardless of what anyone thinks.

P.S. I'm from Canada and as far as I'm concerned it is much better to live in a "cultural mosaic" than in a "melting pot".

Unless you are a minority from another country you do not understand what the american government is like. shirley beleives that other countries owe us lots of money for the bail outs and other types of help the American government gives to poor countries. America is broke. the American government borrows billions of dollars from countries like Japan, the US dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar right now. I am a US citizen not an american, but Hawaiian. I hate to say this, but white America is just that white, and the majority of them believe that they are the master race and every one else is less than them. White American are always trying to run every thing, change the way other live to suit them, I will give you all an example. In hawaii fire works are a part of who we are, it is a cultral thing brought to hawaii by chinese imagrints in the1700's and incorparated into the Hawaiian life style, twenty years ago or so many older whites of finacial influence came to Hawaii because the air was cleaner, the waters were cleaner living was cleaner, but twice a year the air was polluted with fire cracker smoke and red paper on the grounds. The rich white people from the mainland told the politicians that they could not breath on these two days out of 365 days of a year, compared to not being able to breath all most all year around in some US cities. Two days, they were able to get a law past minimizing the use of fire works in Hawaii now. the whites buy up all the beach front properties because they keep driving up prices the average person can not afford the home properties, and then they block the beach access from evey one except for whom they want to let in. Are the american always trying to take control? yes, they are but the only thing they bring to the dinner table so-to-speak is mayhem and chaos, technology is bought in by every one else and perfected by foreign scientist working for the US companies, but I am still glad to be a US citizen and I will defend its flag to the death. Sorry so long, but that is the history the way I know it to be. Happy Holidays,....cya....

I was borne in the US, lived in Miami-Florida for seven years, before that, in south America and I recently move out of Florida for good to the UK(London), and now, I look back to those 7 years, and even though I did my professional career there, I feel, they were the 7 worst years of my live (social wise), because of this capitalistic systems I did not have many friends, everybody was busy, did not have a real girlfriend cause I did not have money to show and people saw me like I was a rat because I was poor “the more you have, the better you are” and also in the US if you can only pursue a university degree when you come from a very wealthy family or live in debt for the rest of your life and if you become sick, you either have to have an insurance (very expensive if not paid by employer) or live in debt for the rest of your live.

I think in the US, there is a strong culture to work but no culture to socialise with others, for example Drs see you as a number $ more than as a patient, I don’t want to generalise, but I think the US system (media and government) changes people into working machines and blocks their minds from what is outside, most of the people I met there think that the US is the best country in every single way, without even visiting other countries, well I don’t blame then , with the little time off we had in Florida as listed on linked below, there is not time to visit any other countries, and also only a very little amount of Americans have a passport. please see attachments below.

Well, something else, I realize when I was traveling around Europe and south America, I noticed that most of Americans did not make any effort to a least speak the most common or used word in other languages and expect everybody to speak English as once a girl from Chicago told me “we are leaving the globalization so everybody needs to speak English”

In the other hand I think that economic wise US is great country , my parents are doing financially very well so is my brother and most of the people I know, but unfortunately all the money they make and have, cant not even be enjoyed. I truly respect you opinion but I think that WE as “Americans” should see the world equally, change our minds, not because we are richest and have the economical power we have the right to abuse others and impose our system, ethics and moral in other countries as they have their own and we should respect that.

US people are innocent of their believes. They had live in between lies and Hollywood films. They born to consume everything, uncle Sam works always in the shadows expending the taxpayers money in stupid wars to benefit of a group of dirty traitors. They don´t care for the people, they don´t have country so they move their factories overseas were cheap labor pays... leaving unemployed American workers without health care, education etc. The richest country in the world has the social benefits of a third world country. But they are waking up and I think that a great change will come to USA in a short period of time. Do not forget that the biggest Mafia Ever is ruling the USA and sooner or later somebody will stop them (the people of the USA)

Hey we love our country despite all the warts it may have. And those of us who have traveled beyond our borders can confirm that yes, it is the perhaps the best country in the world.

Could it do with some changes...oh yeah. We need to better educate ourselves about the rest of the world and stop letting the "red dirt road" crowd define us for the rest of the world. They aren't our best representatives. And yeah, we sling a lot of mud during our campaigns...as opposed to slinging it in the House of Commons (which I love to watch on C-SPAN).

Our architechture could use some help to be sure. Some days Tulsa looks like Denver looks like Lincoln looks like Long Beach...and yeah I would love to have a train system like the Germans.

But at the end of the day, this Virginia boy wants to wake up with the Blue Ridge on the horizon, soft bluegrass underfoot and the clear blue skies of the USA.

Been around the world quite a bit. Have not seen any other country that comes close to the freedoms, opportunity and life in the US.

There may be crime here and our Govt may go off the deep end once in a while, but the United States is great [a VERY large understatement].

Think about it, you pointed out that there are hate groups galore here, yet we are NOT in the streets gunning and blowing each other up.

Kinda makes you think, how can the US achieve that when others can't.

Because Americans don't know any better. Most of them have never been outside their home state never mind the country. They have no idea how the rest of the world lives.

Let them have their little fantasy, it keeps them away from here.

Sure, it has it's faults, but so do alot of other countries. If America is such a horrible country, than why do so many people from other countries choose to come here and live? What I say is true. I would rather live here than any other place in the world. Stay wherever you are, we're not missing you at all.

1. No everyone in America says that.
2. Most people in the world are proud of where they live (aren't you?).
3. The U.S. is so large physically, economically and change does occur but we have a long way to go.
