Haul *** instead of spending time on the computer. The desk you can Tape the drawer shut with duct tape so it don't open. If it has drawers full of papers - paper is heavy. like books. Take the drawer out cause they won't lift the desk with the excess weight. Box books in boxes no bigger than the ones they put fruit in at the grocers. If you can't lift it, how are they gonna lift it? Clothes beareaus are very heavy. Pull out the drawers, cover the drawer with a paper grocery bag or a temporary cardboard cover and tape closed with a cross of tape(front to back & left to right) Stuff clothes in glad bags. You can hang out the wrinkles later. Grab all your valuables and fragile glass things and take it with you. Also foodstuffs.
Think think think, do you need it? I have moved the 5 gallon containers of distilled water. Duh like you can buy that anywhere.
Use pillowcases, and as many 40 lb boxes (thats the ones that hold oranges and apples) as possible. Empty out the fridge and freezer. You could work it out with them and if it is a short move (empty out the freezer, load the freezer onto the truck, dump the food back in to keep cold and do the reverse at the other end.
But score boxes now

I wouldn't say you have to unpack drawers and things like that but if there are a bunch of books etc. that you have lying around or up on shelves, there shouldn't be a problem with you packing those up while the movers are moving other things. I hope this helps you out. Good luck with the move.

Moving is always a pain in the butt.
The mover's wont wait for you, if you are still packing boxes, so you need to have them ready when they come.
If the movers are moving the desk, than go ahead and leave stuff in it.
I have taken the drawers out, left them full of clothers. and moved the furniture without the drawers in them

It really depends on two things:
- Whether or not, you or your movers will be able to move the furniture (weight issues) & (if the drawers will open when the furniture is moved). Both of these items could also lead to damage depending on the quality of the furniture.
- Whether or not your furniture can handle (durability issues) the move being fully loaded. I've had some furniture in the past (low quality) that could barely survive the entire move completely unloaded, but that will be up to you to determine prior to the move.

Mac, it depends on if you have hired a full pack moving company.. My husband and I just moved.. We had them pack everything!!.. you don't need to lift a finger, but I did pack things I wanted to remain private.. jewlery, papers, toiletries..
They do the packing and no, they will pack all your cloths.. As far as books go, your weight will be very high when they get them on the truck, best to get rid of the books if you can.. Please call your moving company and ask any questions you have, because if you pack something and it get broken, they will not replace it.. CALL THEM!!
My motto is, no sweat when the movers get there..lol

nicely in case you do not desire to take them off the hanger and don't desire to get the wrinkled, you're able to purchase a particular field from Penske or UHaul that has a bar in it to hold outfits. What we did, became into did not do laundry for like a week and a nil.5 before we moved, threw all the grimy stuff into trash luggage and interior the decrease back of the truck. the rest, we packed into suitcases. Then, as quickly as we've been given there, I purely did laundry. That way, i did not care no count if or not they have been given wrinkled or grimy during the flow reason they have been already that way!

I think you should pack everything if your moving company is not packing for you. With stuff in drawers -it could fall out or make the desk, or whatever--to heavy.
I'm in the process of moving right now so understand your pain.

No, you don't need to pack em up, just take the drawers out of the dresser, and ask em to move it like that or you could call the moving company to see what they say.

Just take out the drawers, they generally come right out, and pack those or in any event make sure everything is anchored down.

It would be wise to empty out the desks and bureau draws because they would be easier to move .
If you leave your items in them they will eventually spill out .
