Sometimes I read comments where women complain about other women. Including girls vs girls. They say that women are mean and vindictive toward other women. Many women do not like other women. Why is that? I find women wonderful to be around. Why do they not like each other?

for some reason, women are always competing against one another. hair, shoes, job, man, car. it's always about who has the best of whatever. however, some women are mean and vindictive and women are very good at reading PEOPLE, so that's another reason why we, not me :), okay well sometimes, but you have to be a real B to get on my nerves, say things about other women or may not like other woman. could be self esteem issues as well.

I am a woman, I have daughters and grandaughters, and none of us have any antagonism toward our own gender.
One reason for that type of behaviour might be that those PARTICULAR women feel somehow threatened by their "sisters". They perceive one another to be prettier, or smarter, or after each other's men.
Women are socialized to view each other with suspicion, as there are, statistically, more female babies born than male. This increases competition between women for available men.
Most of this processing goes on at a subconscious level, so even WOMEN may not truly understand their antagonism toward each other.
This is a somewhat simplistic appraisal, I know, but a lot of our human behaviour stems from what is sometimes called the "ancient brain". It is hard-wired and requires that we consider what we do; whether what we do actually serves a purpose; then change our behaviour to more adequately reflect life in modern society.

You're making a gross generalization. I have several female friends and would be rather lonely without them. Do they get on my nerves at times? Sure! We have very different parenting styles (I am strict; they let their kids run amok) and our incomes and lifestyles differ somewhat as well. But I know that when I need them, they will go to bat for me and vice versa. I think some women are jealous of other women -- in the way that they can attract men, their jobs, their sophistication, their wardrobe...etc. I'm jealous of my friends at times too, but not enough to dislike or be mean to them. We compare ourselves to others, both favorably and unfavorably. Maybe it's something on that second X chromosome that does it and guys don't have that problem. I doubt it though. I think that many men are just less vocal than women by nature, so they keep their insecurities to themselves.

Aloha :)

Most are not like that. I guess every now and then you run into it. Usually it's about ego or status or being just plain jealous about some material thing. It happens but not very often.

Because some are insecure and become jealous when they think another woman has something she lacks, that's why. I have experience this first hand.Of course You wont have problems with them because you're a man.
