I did, and it's the best thing I've ever done. I had always been told how painful it was, but it wasn't that bad at all. I guess the most surprising thing was how much bruising there was; depending on who does it, and how it's done, they can use a lot of clamps on you. And, I guess in a way, it seemed ridiculous considering what the basic operation is, but, they're the doctors. Different docs do use different techniques, so it might be helpful to "shop around". You want a good cosmetic look as well a dealing with your problem! Took about a week for the stitches to dissolve. And another week, and I was back in the saddle. You won't want to move around much the first two or three days. And, for the first week, you'll still be a little sore. I guess the worst part of the whole thing was learning to whack off as cut. It's way different. But, I now have even more sensitivity than before, and I love not having to worry about smeg. for more info, check out http://www.circlist.com There's a wealth of info on that site, and it's the best I've seen

I had it done at 22, but not because of phimosis. I think it's probably one of the best decisions I ever made. As ponysteel has said, don't listen to the anti-circ. lobby. They are fanatics.
There is no loss of sensation as is sometimes argued. It's easier to keep clean, and I like the aesthetic aspect.
I had it done under general anaesthetic, which I preferred. The stiches caused a little discomfort, particularly if/when I got an erection, but apart from that no problems. I hope you do decide to get cut. You won't regret it, as practically everyone who has replied has already has stated.

I was a medic in the Army and did a lot of circumcisions. For the GI in the field it helped them avoid infection because we were often without showers for 2 weeks or more.
Recently there has been a large clinical study which indicated that men who were not circumcised had a greater potential for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
If you are sexually active and unmarried, I would recommend having the circumcision from a health perceptive.

Although my foreskin was completely functional. I chose to be circumcised at age 40, in response to a suggestion from my (then new) wife, who much prefers a circumcised partner. She explained all the benefits to me beforehand and I must say that she was right in all respects. Getting circumcised was one of the best things that I have ever done. There was no pain, just a little discomfort during the early phase of healing - nothing to worry about at all and afterwards I experienced all the benefits of better hygiene, comfort, appearance of my penis to my wife, self-esteem etc. Most of all though, both my wife and I found that we experienced FAR better sexual sensation during intercourse (she knew this would be the case from prior experience with circumcised partners) It really is far better to be circumcised and there is no downside at all. Do not listen to anti-circ crusaders who tell you that circumcision has negative effects - they are WRONG and know nothing (they are usually inexperienced young women or uncircumcised men!) Circumcision should be routine for all men. Go for it!

Although we just lost him to cancer - about 10 years ago when my father in law was about 55 his doctor said it was necessary.
Also historically people who are Muslim, because Ishmael was 13 and Isaac was 8 days old when the covenant was made with Abraham, have tended to continue having them done at 13.
