I've known him for longer than forever, and I'd trust him with my life. We talk on the phone twice a week minimum and we're always together at school. People sometimes think we're going out but we're not. Obviously.
Now, I feel like I'm honestly in love with him. I dream about him, think about him, etc. It's scary, but at the same time feels really safe and natural. Should I go for it? Or would it screw up our friendship?

We flirt all the time, just in a friendly way, but now it almost feels different.

If this is a free, honest and open friendship then you should tell him exactly what you told us. Why should you tell strangers before you tell the one you love. Good Luck....

I think it depends on how strong your feelings are and your guy friend. True, if you pursue it, it could be true love. Yet if you do and it doesn't work out, you risk losing a friendship. I know what you're going through. I fell in love with my best guy friend back in 2005. Like you, I trust this guy with my life, and we can talk about anything and everything under the sun for hours when time allowed. We went out a few times, and one night, we got physical. It wasn't planned, but what can you do? Anyway, we realized that we weren't cut out to be romantically involved with each other and went back to being buds. It wasn't easy on my end to get my feelings back to platonic, but my friend made it clear that he only wants to be just friends and nothing more. I wasn't sure if I could remain just his bud after we slept together; especially when he started expressing interest in other girls I know are wrong for him. In addition, I still felt that I was the right girl for him because I know him better than most people. But I'm happy to say that after a lot of praying and soul searching, we are still very close and still see each other a lot. It took some time, but now he and I can talk about other girls and my jealousy is nonexistant. If you feel this strongly about your bud and he's feeling you too, go for it and see what happens. But be careful. Listen to your heart, and keep your eyes and ears open when it comes to your friend. Men tend to throw out mixed signals so watch it. I hope this helps. Many blessings!

yes you should go for it.......things might be a little awkward between the 2 of you if he doesn't feel the same way but I'm sure it won't last long if that happens you will never know unless you try it. some of the longest lasting relationships i have been in started out as just being really good friends.

Remember, once you cross a certain line, you cannot go back to the way things were. You have to ask yourself if the risk is worth it. Would you rather have your best friend and wonder "what if" or take the chance and possibly loose a great friendship?

well yeah of course it could happen. I see it happen at school all the time. and it doesn't always ruin friendships (depends on how you deal with the whole situation if you guys break up) so if he likes you then yeah I think you should date him.
