My Husband bought one for the family as a Christmas gift.
We have 2 children 10 & 6. We have wii sports, wii play, Zelda and a couple of other games.
We all love it. Wii sports has something for everyone. My son (10) love the boxing and it helps him get a bit of excercise. I love the tennis, hubby loves the Golf and daughter (6) loves the Bowling. (She runs the full length of the through lounge as if she were at a real bowling alley. Lol )
We have not had a single problem with it and we all enjoy the gameplay. We compete against each other at the sports and have fun as a family playing it together.
It definately gets a big thumbs up from me.

Is it? People who have hated the name have been blown away by it.
The new Zelda is a bit dissapointing being very easy - but - wait until you're galloping through Hyrule field on Epona swinging you remote, which is really your sword. The feeling of immersion is complete.
How about watching people of all ages who'd never play games normally be sucked into a Wii Sports tourney? My 6 year old nephew loves Wii Boxing (we've nearly lost a TV, a Remote and him!), my Mum loves the bowling and me, a seasoned gamer, being beaten mercilessly by my fiance at Wii Golf.
If you are a social gamer, and by that i mean real human interaction, value for money is assured. Its too early to say if the online aspects (gaming) will ever be as good as a PC experience, only time will tell. But if someone offered you a Wii tomorrow I hope that this gives you a slight insight into the joys of owning one.
Oh, and it reads MMC cards, goes online to 'channels', your Avatar (Mii) can go global and its backwards compatible with GC games and controllers. My PS2 is very dusty!

It really depends on your preferences for gaming. Nintendo makes pretty good 'gimmick' systems - the touchscreen for the DS, the 'nunchuck' for the Wii, etc. They are fun for casual gamers, but their potential is limited to simple, accessible games.
The 360 and PS3 are geared towards more avid gamers. They support better graphics and more intense gameplay. In my personal opinion, the 360 trumps the PS3 in this department. I've never fully understood the Playstation craze, starting around the craziness of the PS2's release, but that's for another question altogether...
Bottom line, no, I don't think the Wii is as good as people say it is. I think in a few months the gameplay gimmick will get old, and it'll be reduced to the simplicity of the titles it currently has. The Zelda game is perhaps the best title on it thus far.
Is it a quality system? Yes it is. But it's very overrated.

It's really cool, but the novelty factor wore off for me and now I only play my 360. Maybe some great games will comeo out that will make me want to play, but Zelda and Wii Sports bored me after 3 days.

Pretty much. It's cheap, revolutionary (in a way) with the WiiMote, and can play and download most classical and recent (GameCube) games.
However, I don't own one yet. I just played it at a friend's house. I'm getting that and waiting for the PS3 price to go down.

Depends on how you rate good. I wasn't particularily excited about it, but then I tried one at the mall and the games are SO MUCH FUN!!! It's a lot of fun, not the best graphics, but the gameplay is so unique that it doesn't matter :)

yes it is,but definitly not as good as nintendo said it would be after all they said it would be a super good graphik games system that would have easy to use and safe use and they said it was durable,as far as i can tell, they are the exact opposite as i get them back all the time and the electronics are fried from about 4 hours of straight gameplay

Yeah, it really is. It immerses you in the game in a way no other system can with it's motion sensing technology. Believe me, it really is as good as people say it is. Plus, with it's Virtual System, you can download games from the comfort of your home. And, yes, I do have one.
