I'll need to move about 3 truckloads of pea gravel from my driveway to my backyard. I do't want to do too much damage to my existing lawn, and I don't know if I can drive a Bobcat or not (probably not). Should I just hire someone or is there a smaller machine to rent that will do the 'grunt' work for me? TIA!

Day laborer and a wheel barrel put down some tarp or plywood to make a path over the lawn. Get two guys one to load and unload and one to smooth out.

That's how I got mine done.

Don't know about your area but around here you can go to the Home Depot on most mornings and find day laborers. Then rent a big shop-vac, a wheel barrow and a couple of shovels. Not much work involved in doing it like that and you don't pack your lawn down with heavy equipment.

P.S. A shop vac is a very valuable tool when moving gravel by hand because gravel is really hard to poke a shovel into. A shop vac will just gobble it up.

Hi, It is important that you follow through with this at the court level if they do not want to own up to the damage. Ants don't just happen either. The scouts come looking for both food and water. If found you get an infestation. The cause of the food and water source was neglect by the tenants. You do have a solid case with or without a lease so don't be fooled into think a lease is required. All you have to do it prove they lived there and it was neglect on their part that cause the damage. Bring pictures of the damage. It will be your word against theirs but the court should side with you If you can convince them the place was in a good state of repair prior to their renting. Also, do a walk through with them prior to them leaving. This will give you all the evidence you need for court if they refuse to pay. It goes like this...Your Honor, I conducted a walk through with the tenants. I pointed out the problems and damage and asked them to rectify the issues. They refused, so now we are here. I would like to be compensated for repairs for the damage they caused. Most Judges understand that any Landlord worth their salt wouldn't take a tenant to court unless there were real issues. Have your time line established with the date the pics were taken to prove you've spoken to the tenants about the trash problem. Trash lying about shows they did not respct the property or your request to haul it away. It will also give weight to your complaint about the plugged sink. if they were too lazy to haul away trash, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see how they let the sink get clogged. You get my point.

There are machines somewhat like a Bobcat that you stand on to operate. However I doubt many rental places carry it. Even in landscape companies, nothing beats the wheel barrow and shovel. Put plywood down to stop lawn damage......yeah, I know, the price of plywood.
