One of my favorite faerie books is "Drawing Faeries - A Believer's Guide" by Christopher Hart ISBN:0-8230-1403-7

Don't let the title throw you until you thumb through it. It's a drawing reference book, however it is told like a story. My children love it when I read the book to them.

About $12.00 on Amazon.com

There is one version of A Mid-Summer Night's Dream by Shakespear that's illustrated by Kevin maddison that has fantastic pictures in it. You could also check out some of Sir Joseph Noel Paton's work. He draws fantastic fairies.
