When I start up the computer, it gets stuck on a screen and a t the bottom it says: A disk read error occured. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. After I do that, it's still the same screen.

Unplug all the wires and reattach them. Didn't work.
Restart. Didn't work.

For some reason I can't go into Safe Mode no matter how many times I press F8.

What in the world do I have to do fo fix it?

If you could, please answer and make it as simple as you can.I'm a little....slow....

Does the computer ever work or does it always give you the error.

If it always gets 'stuck' then its probably a failure of the hard disk which is bad news. The machine is not 'junk' as others have suggested however you will need to get a new hard disk and replace the one in the PC now. You will lose all the stuff you have on your computer though and will have to start again. (Bad I know)

A new hard drive isn't expensive.

If the machine does sometimes make it to the normal windows screen then this is good news. Yes, it means that your hard disk is on the way out and will die completely soon, but you need to backup the information now. Start the machine and once its started up properly - may take a few goes - then copy or backup everything to a CD.

Then you'll need to replace the hard drive as before but at least you won't lose all your stuff.

i had a reading error on my old computer before where i couldn't get it to start up or even in safe mode, it would just repeatedly reboot, before it even go to the desktop, i even got an operating system cd and set it to domain controllers only and do not restart, but it still did, it was screwed, i just got a new computer and scrapped that one for parts, it was gone

if you can get to the desktop go to start, run, type msconfig, go to BOOT.INI tab and select the /safeboot then restart that will get u into safe mode, before that though google search the entire disk read error code and check it out, how much room do u have on the harddrive? do a scan disk and defrag

well first off if you have a floppy drive check that. if there is a floppy drive in there take it out!!! windows will not boot up with a floppy disk in it.

if that is not the case your hardrive may be dead and you have lost everything including the hardrive with all your data.

hopefully it is the floppy drive... just press the button if there is one in there and it will pop out
