this same card on the same computer use to work just fine then one day it wouldn't connect I uninstalled everything then reinstalled it. This is a second computer my main computer is connected directly to the router(linksys), which connects just fine. please help

If the signal is strong, and you are connected, it sounds like you may need the key to connect. Linksys routers will allow you to connect, but will not give you access to the network if you do not provide the proper key.

I would recommend logging into the router via your wired computer by opening a browser and going to "http://192.168.0.1". The username is probably blank and the default password should be 'password' or 'admin'. You can set up your wireless options/key via the menu that will show up.

If all else fails, check the manual for the router, or go to linksys.com and download the manual.

SSID match on router and wifi card? double check. open internet explorer and go to 192.168.1.1 and check all the settings for the router

The person who owns the connection may be blocking you, if they have norton it will detect you connecting and they may dismiss it as a virus and have hit block always.

thats odd i didnt think wireless was compatible with win98 at all. i thought it only worked for 2000, and XP

d link are garbage. buy a quality card like Belkin, or Netgear.

do not use a wifi type of internet.
