My coworkers are very mean and so is my boss. They gossip and backbite about each other and they all act like they are nice to each other's faces. The environment is so phoney and the people are so vain, selfish and self exalting. I honestly feel like I can't take it anymore. I know that nowhere is perfect, but this is a bit much. Lately, I have been feeling isolated and like I don't fit in there. The pay is good and I like the vacation time. Should I quit?

Hi there,

I feel exactly the same. I dont know what to do because I cant be as two faced as they are. I cant stand the work anymore. I might get a promotion but dont think that I should take it as this would put me in charge of those people that treats me that. Saying that you must quit your job is not right but if its the only option I suggest first find another job and then you step down with grace. I am going for an interview tomorrow as well. Like you I cannot stand vain and selfish people. Its not healthy and makes one very unhappy.

GO FOR IT.

NO, let them quit...just kidding...If you are there it must be a purpose. If someone tells you something about another person just let that person know that you are there to work and that you are trying to work in a safe and nice environment... ask your boss if they can take suggestion...........................................
for example in a box, you can put comments or suggestions of how be abetter person or how the agency could built a better environment or how people could get along better in a job's setting.
HEY!......getting a job is not easy.....you should keep that one and work out the problem....
instead of quit, take a vacation or send an anonymous letter to all staff stating how vain, selfish and hypocrite they are you will need to include youself for nobody could find that you sent the letter.

I'd wait until I found a place with good pay and benefits. However, as another before me said, no place is perfect. You never know, your office could lose a couple of people and that could make all the difference.

It sounds like there is a "culture" problem where you work. I wonder if the company rewards people with a big commission for sales, not that there is anything wrong in that, except when it goes to a person's head.

If you can show me an office where that doesn't happen let me know because I'll quit my job and join that group. Point is it happens everywhere. Just don't play into it and keep away from it. If you're that unhappy then maybe you should look for another job.

I would keep your job. I wouldn't want Red Lobster to lose a good employee.

Try to tolerate it until you find something better. Then, give your notice and leave.
