Red Wigglers are given a life expectancy of 10 years or more

Red Wigglers only stay alive for 2 to 5 years long. I've read about this on about 7 different sites to make sure I was correct on this. And, they all came up with the same answer.

Depends on the conditions you keep them in. If you keep them cool (in the basemant or refrigerator), moist, and provide them with some food (small amounts of greens, veggies, maybe occassional fish flakes), they can stay alive indefinately.

I have a breeding colony established in the bedding of my marbled salamander. She's too small to eat the larger worms, so they just keep reproducing and she eats the young ones. I use the coconut fiber and have them in the basement (~65 degrees) and they eay the left over cricket food (veggie scraps, cereal, dry cat food) in the tank.
