I have the 2.16Ghz and upped it to 2GB a month after getting it and it is a ROCKET by comparison.
Under the Intel chip the MB Pro is very RAM demanding and this is witnessed in all big applications (I am a Photoshop CS user) which run slower on the MB Pro than on the G4 Powerbook with less RAM (which I also have!)!
So, in answer- getting more RAM WILL improve your experience of a lot of processes on the MacBook Pro SPECIFICALLY.
It may not affect a G4 or even G5 of the pre-Intel generation to double the RAM from 1 to 2GB but it WILL work on the Intel.
Somewhere like http://www.crucial.com is a good place to get RAM cheaper than at Apple. I bought my second GB there for a £100 less than I'd have paid at Apple.

You're having problems with this? I have a MacBook Pro, 2.16GHz Core Duo with 1GB of RAM and mine works flawlessly. Is your iTunes up to date with the latest software updates? Try using the Disk Utility to repair your file permissions. Are you running other applications while using iTunes?
Gordon: You're wrong. Actually 1GB would be faster in pairs of 512MB.

key-word: multitasking The more effective reminiscence the more effective you're in a position to multitask without lag. 4 GB is tremendous yet reckoning on the OS: Lion or Snow Leopard the better the faster with tender demonstrate to demonstrate pass. Plus the actual reality the OS takes about 1/2 of four GB to run properly. 8 GB might want to be the more effective advance to attempt this and more effective.

More ram is always a god way to get a speed increase. One problem you may have is if your 1gb of ram is mad up from 2 512mb cards, to get 2gb in this case you would need to buy the whole 2gb

Extra RAM is always a good thing. However, having said that, your existing 1 GB should be more than enough to cope with this.

yes, I am still surprised at how much even a basic mac can improve with a little boost of RAM.
My mac only runs slow when I have processor hungry apps running but since i do that a lot i am going to up ram soon.
well done for making a great choice in computing
