the mean is the average value of the numbers (add them all up and divide by the number of numbers you have)

the median is the middle number in the set

the mode is the number that appears the most often

the range is the value you get when you subtract the lowest number from the highest

so,, in the number set of 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
the mean is (3+4+4+5++6+7+8+9+10)/9 or 6.2
the median is 6 (the middle number)
the mode is 4
and the range is 10-3 or 7

When there is an even number of numbers in the set, the median is the mean of the middle two numbers.

When there are no numbers repeated more frequently, or two or more values are repeated the same number of times, the set has no mode

The mean is the average. It is the sum of all values divided by the total number of values. The following 5 numbers have an average of 7 because (2+5+7+9+12)/5 = 7.

The median is the middle number. There are 50% of the remaining numbers below this number and 50% above it. In the example, 7 would be the median because there are two numbers smaller and two numbers larger than it. In yhis case the average and the median are thes same, but this is not usually the case.

The mode is where the most of the numbers are the same. In the above example there is no mode since all numbers are different. But if you had 1,2,3,3,3,4,5,6 then the Mode would be 3. It is possible to have more than one mode.

The range is simply the difference between the largest number in the sample and the smallest number in the sample.

mean is the average of all the #'s so add all the #'s and divide by how many #'s there are

median is the number right in the middle of all the #'s if it is a even # add the two in the middle and divide by 2

mode is the number that appears most often

range is the biggest # minus the smallest #
