According to this site, they can be kept together: http://www.hermit-crabs.com/perlatus.htm I'd try to get ones that are about the same size as your purple claws and keep an eye on their interaction for the first few days.

As long as they are the same size it should be okay. Purple pinchers are commonly mixed in with many different species of hermit crabs...mostly Ecuadorians.

most hermit crabs are pretty compatible with one another. i have been to stores that have sold hermit crabs, and i have seen a mixture of the purple, red and blue all together in the same containers.

i agree...as long as there is ample space for all of them, and a few extra empty shells around for them to molt into, then i would say that it should be a happy little home for all your little crawlie friends.

You might want to be careful mixing two very different types of crabs. But, as long as the tank is large I say go ahead, it should be fine, just try and keep eye on them. Good luck.

You can put them both in the same tank. You must provide both salt and fresh water as the Strawberries require the salt.

straw berry crabs do fine with pp's hears the chain

pp's like Ecuadorians
Ecuadorians like strawberries
pp's and straw berries are neutral
Also straw berries are messy!! they'll destroy your tank. But their extremally cute!! MAKE SURE THEY'RE ABOUT THE SAME SIZE OR ELSE.
