Your video card drivers are either not loaded, or wrong. Make sure you are installing the latest CORRECT drivers for your card. If you need help, let me know what card you have, and I'll show you the drivers.

If your card is an ATI card, click to get the latest drivers: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

If your card is an nVidia, click:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Like I said before, you'll need to know what type of card you have to get the correct drivers.

One more idea: something may be consuming massive amounts of CPU cycles. Press CTRL ALT DEL, click the performance tab, and take a screenshot, then post it here so I can see if you have a rogue application.

The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html
The computer mouse is the most extensively used user interface device and usually has to to be replaced or repaired first. You have to clean the bottom surface frquently. Please visit the followng link for detailed information.

Does your friends computer have better capibilities for the video card. Your computer may not have most fast operating hardware and the video card maybe functioned to work a little faster than the computer you are running it with. Also if your screen is old, they can get jumpy or even if you may have a DSL internet connection.
