i have to write a speech about myself. in this speech, i have to present an object that symbolizes me...not my interests, just me. i can't think of anything for the life of me.

my personality is quiet, reserved, humble, helpful, caring, compassionate, loving...to a select few.. i'm outgoing when i warm up to people.

i appreciate your help!

Don't doubt your first instinct. Close your eyes and reflect on who you are; think of your face, several happy memories of yourself, think your name a few times. Then try to concentrate on an object, the first thing that comes to mind. Don't shrug it off as stupid, it's your heart and mind communicating with you. If this is what you thought of when you think about "you," you've associated this thing with certain important aspects of yourself on some subconscious level. I wouldn't recommend using ideas suggested by others, you're making this extra hard on yourself. Even if you use one of the suggested objects, you'll have an even harder time trying to justify in your speech why you feel this particular item symbolizes you. It's better to find your own way, then it will be easier to gradually understand why you chose what you chose, and even easier still to explain it. "Know thyself."

Good luck on your project!

How about a key? Keys allow people to join in the warmth and familiar and escape the cold of the outside environment. You could explain how this is like your personality with people. There are so many things you could compare with your personality. In addition, to convey the idea of humility, you should use a tarnished or scratched up key. This would be a symbol of humility without you saying anything. However, it is important for you to choose what you feel truly symbolizes you!
P.S. A key is also a good symbol for intelligence.

Sunlight filtering through the clouds and trees over the roof of a broken, ruined church? (Flawless in its beauty, regret for its brokenness, love for life and nature?)
