What could happen if there was an increase in atmospheric ionization levels? Ozone is a charged form of molecular oxygen and increased atmospheric ionization could mean a larger ozonosphere. Since the ozonosphere helps protect the Earth from strong ultraviolet radiation, a larger ozonosphere would be a very good thing.

Otherwise, breathing ionized atoms is generally not healthy. This includes breathing ozone, which can lead to all sorts of health problems. If the atmospheric ionization was at lower levels and therefore breathable, that would be a bad thing.
