Where babies come from....or how BIGOTS are born?

The term "bigots are born" was used for simplistic motives. It's obvious that bigotry is "taught" ...so to speak.

'Hate' is never easy to explain.

Explaining where children come from, or how they are created does not seem that difficult. Although, bigots are not born, we are all products of our environment. Religious ideology aside, babies are born in my opinion with clean slates. They have not said or done anything wrong.

How would, "I am not your real Parent" eat at you? It should be a joy to say this! To say, I have love in my heart and I had to share it with you! This should be taught from the MOMENT you get the child and never allowed to be forgotten! Thank the child constantly for being IN YOUR LIFE and sharing it with you!

Let them "discover" bigots on their own time. Hate should not be taught from the home, only how to fight it, i.e., information on how to educate those who are hateful. Otherwise, just let the child know, its not PERSONAL and that the ignorant are always lashing out at ALL, just hoping their words hurt SOMEONE. In fact, if they didn't say anything, they wouldn't know their words had done any damage at all. : )

Well my daughter's not adopted but I'm very honest with her. I explained very easily where babies come from but as for explaining bigots I just told her that there are bad people in the world & if they don't suffer the concequences in life God will deal with them & they won't be too happy

neither question is more diificult to explain. babies are made when a man and a woman have sex. bigots are made when the man and the woman fail to impart knowledge or they impart their skewed knowledge to their children. i think the "adopted" children part has no bearing on the question, a child is a child and it's no harder to talk to a biological child than an adopted one. the main point is to teach your children to have an open mind and to let them make their own decisions. imagine raising your children to hate based on color, or based on sexual orientation. what if that child grows up to be gay? how will you as a parent feel when you have given him or her the message that they are evil or unloved. i can't think of anything worse. the world is a very big place and there's room for us all.

Babies are naturally occurring. Bigots are unnatural. I'd wager explaining bigots would be much more difficult.

Clearly, how biggots are born ... or made. The day a child first discoveries bigotry is a very sad day in a child's life.

How bigots are born...because they're not...they are carefully taught.

I found with my daughters, it was always easier to explain things with logic behind it, so that it makes sense to them. Illogical things like discrimination, intolerance, bigotry and hate are more difficult to explain. I simply told them I had no idea why people were so incredibly stupid, but they were, obviously.

It is hard to explain why people hate, be it to children or anyone. It's hard (in that it breaks your heart) to tell kids that people hate and hard to try to come with a reason for it. Much easier to explain love making and how we are made from love.
