I don't see why not, even though I have all these as subjects at school. Anyway, I think any person should have at least some general knowledge about them, and to give you an example:

I had to do a survey on the street about what people knew about this guy that led a revolution in 1848 in my country, Romania. Now, it didn't seem so hard, and, come on, about 90% of those people heard about this guy at least 4-6 times during their school years. Now, what do you think a Political Sciences student told me: he's the boyfriend of the president's daughter. TODAY's president.

Now, I'm sorry, but I think one should study these subjects and get tested on them, even if it is only to be sure you're not embarrassed like this, because two older men that were passing by were laughing like they hadn't heard anything funnier. Of course, they knew who the revolution leader was.

You need to be tested on every subject you take. There is no way else to see if the person has learned anything. While the testing and method could be improved, it is what you're learning that's important. This nonsense about "how can you test creativity" is just another excuse to pass people on that haven't learned anything. School isn't the place to be creative, it's for learning the core concepts. Creativity and innovation are for work and life.

I think science and history they should be tested on and music and art optional because music and art express people's creativity and science and history are just learning about things that are already there, if you know what I mean.

I think you should be tested in all of those. At my school we are tested in all of them except Art, but we still have projects and art classes. Right now we are making tissue paper hot air balloons.

Science yes. The worse mistake of our current educational system is that creativity is not at the fore front. Where does creativity come from? Art and music, which are the two subjects which get cut for duh tests.

there should be a general standard to measure their understanding of the subjects , but small details are not needed. the details can be researched when they are needed. it doesnt help to memorize dates, times, or names for a test. it is a waste of time. what is really important is the causes, reasons, and effects of what has happened.
