It's best to use the pill & condoms, this will give you the best possible protection. I understand not wanting to use the later being married, consider diaphram, or spermicide, also, the fertifility test (at walmart) is a good idea, this will definitely give you some useful information. If you aren't planning on children anytime within the next 3years why not consider the "norplant". That would be a wonderful alternative.....
Good luck. and Kudo's to you for being so responsible & planning for your future.

If you use birth control as it should be used, then you should be okay but if you are trying to be extra careful, I wouldn't spend your money on anything at Walmart, like ovulation kits. The best thing to do since you are on birth control is to know the time that you ovulate and avoid having sex then. Generally, you ovulate 14 days before your period. It's hard to know exactly when you are going to get your period so you don't know exactly when 14 days before would be, but you can guess. If you can figure out when that day is, just avoid sex for 2 or 3 days before it and 2 or 3 days after. During that time, just do other stuff with your husband and avoid intercourse.

ROFL!
People give the funniest answers ;)
I'd start with over the counter ovulation predictors. Search opk or ovulation predictor on ebay. You'll find it cheaper than walmart and much more affordable.
However, I found that whole OPK experience was stressful. And, each month not preggers was horrible. Eventually, I bought OvaCue which is more accurate...but $300. I'd try that before fertility treatments...which I wish I would have known before I did fertility treatments!! That thing is great at pin pointing your peak day. And, I'm now 17 weeks pregnant due to OvaCue!
Your young and OPKs will work great!
The link to the ones I used is below. These were better than the ones my fertility clinic gave me.

Sorry, thought you were TTC. For pregnancy prevent I use my OvaCue the opposite way. When it says I'm coming on my peak day we sustain until my peak has gone down - usually we wait five days to be extra safe.
But, you have to be really on top of it to avoid pregnancy. It's easier to slip up. As our friends found out when they were expecting their fifth, lol.

Hi! I'm doing the same thing tracking my fertility! My doctor recommended to use a basal thermometer. The digital one is fine she told me to do it for 3 months or less! You start the morning your cycle comes on and each day afterwards at the same time every morning before you get out of bed. After the first month or two you will be able to tell! But if taking the pill you should trully consult you doctor for more ways to handlethis!

That 1% pregnancy risk usually happens with women who forget a pill or take it late, so make sure you take it every day at the same time every day. Also, antibiotics can make the pill less effective, so be extra careful if you have to take any antibiotics.
