First make sure no power is to the socket. then you can use a potato.. Just press it softly as you twist it counterclockwise. Then throw it all away. if that does not work you can get needle nose pliers with gloves on and power off. just stick the pliers inside the socket and open the pliers to grip the inside of the socket with the outside of the tips of the needle nose pliers and twist counterclockwise. If that does not work again make sure the power is off and you should wear gloves. work one side of the needle nose pliers between the light bulb socket and the fixture then close the needle nose pliers and twist. you will have to take the socket out in pieces. Be careful not to hurt the fixture threads, now if it is stuck that bad look for corrosion. because your light bulb should not have blown up. This is an indication that water is going through your fixture. if you find a white residue that's calcium carbonate and you have a problem. water is dripping into your fixture. you need to look above it and find out where the water is coming from and stop it. Call an electrician if you must but the next time it rains your bulb will blow again if you do not fix the problem

I've never tried this but read and heard about it often. After unplugging the lamb, take a potato and jam it into the remaining part of the bulb. Then twist the remaining part of the bulb out.

I probably works, LOL!

Turn off power to the socket, kill power to the circuit, then grab on to the base with needle-nose pliers, and twist the base out. It may take some work, but I have done this many, many times, and usually, I can get it out.
