ocean water poisoning?

We recently returned from Canun, Mexico. There were 6 of us traveling, and almost all of us have come down with flu-like symptoms. Could we have gotten something while snorkling, and perhaps swallowing a bit of the ocean water? We were careful about all the other drinking water etc. Thanks for the help!

It is more likely something you all ate, drink, or just all ate at the same place.

Montezuma's Revenge is a lot more common than something from Ocean water.
