I think it depends a lot on what stores are convenient to the people who might be buying stuff for the baby. Babies R Us and Target worked for us - they have great registries and the stores were close for the people who were getting things for my shower.
I have also heard good things about Burlington Coat Factory and Buy Buy Baby.
It might also be a good idea to do one at a book store... books are terrific baby gifts. I was so glad to get so many for my son!
Amazon is also great for online wishlists. I keep a running wishlist for my son on there for books he doesn't have and one for toys. This is so handy for us because we have a lot of faraway family who are always looking for good ideas on what to get him for Christmas, Birthdays, etc now that he is born.
Wherever you register, have fun!!!

Babies R Us, Wal Mart, and Baby Depot at Burlington Coat Factory.....They are are available online so just check them out and see if they have what you want. They all also have online ordering and shipping for those family and friends that are out of town.
Good luck and Congrats!
