You just answear you're question! "What can I do to stop myself"... That's it! What can you do? You're the only one who can help you!

If you're not there... nobody will bother to help you.
Anyway... you suffer by stress disorder, but I don't think is serious! You just want to let everybody else that you're "cool", but when you're alone... there yoy go, you think you are stupid!

You just have to "relax"!!!

A lot of people suffer from self mutilation behaviors or thoughts, it is a symptom of various mental illnesses, personality disorders and post traumatic stress. It is also a way for someone to attract attention to themselves and try to punish others when they don't get their way or they lose an argument. Often, self mutilators are not suicidal, they just see the cutting as an outlet for intangible emotions they don't understand and can't control ergo, they take control of something by causing themselves to engage in an activity that they can experience tangible results from. ie: the bleeding is a release in contrast to the unreleased, bottled up emotions--the scar is something meaningful they can see and feel to remind them of an intense emotional experience. As a cutter who wants to find a better, more positive outlet for your anger and frustration, you should seek the help of some sort of counselor or other healthcare provider that can help you find the source of inside turmoil that frustrates you into harming yourself. Harming yourself is not the answer ( I have many scars and a disabled left arm and hand to remind me every day that I should have found a better outlet for my emotions.) Growing up and coming to terms with your mental and emotional state helps, but it takes a lot of work and self-evaluation that is best accompanied by the aid of loving friends and family and the help and advice of a qualified healthcare provider. Be aware that cutting can and does get out of control--it can cause painful nerve, muscle and tendon damage at the least and the loss of your precious life at the most. Find help immediately.

I agree with 'Seeker" (that is a really good answer) obviously cutting yourself is means for you to release emotion... anger, fear, frustrtion etc and you need to find a healthy means to release your emotions... even if it means going to gym and punching a punch bag... but seriously get help from someone who will be able to give some coping mechanisms... it may not be a hectic habit now... but it will get worse if you don't do something... and the fact that you're asking this question here, shows you do want to stop and just don't know how. Go to a local university clinic or look up online for places where you can go to a therapist... especially if you are on a budget, maybe some people answering this question can suggest places... I'm from another country so can't really make concrete suggestions. sorry!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of people who struggle with this. I would wonder if you also struggle with depression. But, it has probably become a way to relieve stress or anger- or anything. But, at this point it's probably an addiction.
Addiction thrives in isolation. Isolation is addiction's greatest friend. The first step to defeating this is to break the isolation- break the silence. Posting this was a good start, next tell someone you know- that you care for that might understand. Then it is true that it would be best to seek professional help. Community is the best way to combat addiction.
It's a tough choice that you need to make. But, it is true that this is a serious problem. If someone was an alcoholic or crack dealer you would tell them to get help b/c you wouldn't want them to destroy themselves with their serous problem- this is where you might be and you might also need to get serious help.

Fighting is often a way to tell other people that someone has abused you. There is no other way to put it.

Tell your school nurse, teacher, counselor, coach, or someone who types there. They will know what to do so that you don't get into trouble with whomever is hurting you. They have the power to protect you in ways that you don't know of.

If you are not in school anymore, you must tell someone, because you have to stop this NOW. Not later, NOW.
The problem is that you have the habit, so you need to talk about what is happening to you
.
When you talk, you help yourself, so talk, talk, talk, and keep on talking. Talk to a policeman/lady or a fireman/lady, because they know what to do, too. You can even call 911!
Talk to someone even if the one who is abusing you has threatened you or people that you love. You have to tell and you have to do it now, and this is how you can help yourself.
You start talking and you don't stop!

Yeah, cutting is a very serious problem with very serious consequences. There is no one-size fits all solution. I suggest you seek some professional help and tell the people you love, so that they can help you as well. If your still in school take to your school counselor about this problem, but don't try to fix it yourself.

you must feel that the arguments are your fault but you can't punish yourself for it. it is a two way street in arguments not one. when you feel like hurting yourself punch something instead. when i use to get really frustrated i would slap myself or pull my hair, but now i have learnt to deal with my anger and think to myself why should i hurt myself because of other people. so what i do now is a hit a punching bag and trust me it feels really good to let off that steam and also i keep in shape in the process. if not i would have hung myself by now. life is beautiful it's up to you to make it that way.

Think about the reasons why you cut yourself. Are there other ways to control your emotions? What do you want? Ask yourself, is cutting myself going to solve my problems?

I hope this helps.
