I'm a running start student and I am told that I was suppose to choose a major right now. I'm really confuse. Do you need to choose a major in community college or can you just complete the basic requirements for the assoiciate degree?

I'm also planning to transfer to a 4-year university. Also the community college doesn't have the program/degree that I want to apply for so I really don't know what I should be doing right now. Should I just choose a random major?

you do not choose a major necessarily. you choose an advisement track that you will think you will be majoring in when you go/ are accepted into a university

I am a graduate of the junior college two year associate program and you do not have to select a major at this time. However, you should have some idea as to which discipline of higher education you are most interested in pursuing for example medicine, engineering, computer science, mathematics, education and so on.

Once you complete the two year program and you transfer--- the new school will ask that you declare a major well before your senior year. When you graduate from the junior college you are considered a junior in your last two years of study unless you decide to apply for graduate school and study for a master's degree. Good Luck with your education degree.

NO!!! do not do it randomly. Choose general studies if they have one ...... otherwise look and see if they have a "transfer" program and what it has to say. You should choose something though and General Studies is usually a good way to get the general education requirements of a 4-year school out of the way.

No you have time for that, community college is ALL about the basics....a community college will not allow you to declare a major.....I don't think they are in the position to accept it.....

when you transfer to a University you will make your decision there.....good luck.
