A two step test is as follow
1) make sure the number is even - ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8
2) add the digits of the number - if the sum is divisible by 3 then the number is divisible by 3.

If a number passes tests 1 and 2 then it is divisible by 6.

Example: 257,813,694

1) is 257,813,694 even - Yes

2) total of digits = 2+5+7+8+1+3+6+9+4 = 45
Is the total 45 divisible by 3 - YES

Therefore 257,813,694 is divisible by six.

Check: calculator says 257,813,694 / 6 = 42,968,949 exactly!

Additional: You can even add the digits of the "total digits" to get an even smaller sum, which you can check for divisiblity by 3. Continue this until as many times as necessary.

In our example we could have used the 45 total to get a smaller total to check. That is 4 + 5 = 9. Is 9 divisible by 3 - You can bet your last dollar it is !

One More Example: 165,248,396,236,159,794,834

Test 1 - Yes divisible by 2 therefore even

Test 2:
sum of digits(165,248,396,236,159,794,834) = 105

sum of digits(105) = 6 = divisible by 3.

Therefore original number is divisible by 6.

Any positive number is divisible by 6.

6 divided by 6 = 1
12 divided by 6 = 2
13 divided by 6 = 2.166666

I think the question you're really asking is if a number is evenly divided by 6, like 6 or 12 above. You really just have to test the number and check it. There is no automatic way to look and tell.

If it's divisible by 6, then it must be divisible by 2 and 3. So check that it's even, and then check that the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.

All numbers are divisible by 6. Perhaps you meant with no remainder, if so I would state that a number is evenly divisible by 6 if it is a multiple of 6.
