Any tips?

Well, I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life and we haven't had weather that cold in a while, but when it first hits you, it's shocking! Then too it depends on the wind chill, see if the wind chill is -18, then that's what it feels like. If the temperature is -18, then it will feel a little warmer than -18, which helps. Otherwise, its like your whole body pauses for a moment as you take it all in. Then your moments are usually a little bit slower than normal. You literally are chilled to the bone, its usually suggested that you stay inside for weather as cold as that. If you are outside stay bundled up, as much as possible, but even in the warmest of coats you'll feel the cold.

it is 18° in Chicago right now, it's so cold it hurts, wear gloves and a scarf that doesn't itch because your gonna want to cover your neck, and a hat that comes down over your ears, Kleenex in your pocket because it makes your eyes cloudy and water then it freezes on your face, some kind of lip balm or gloss or stick, warm socks, Toronto is a city so wear city footwear, you don't want to look like an Eskimo, it's not like you're going on an expedition, there are buildings and cars

Stay inside if you can. If you must go outside, wear multiple layers. Exposed skin will frostbite in just a few minutes!

I have been outside in -30F wind chills, and even with many layers of clothes it is still REALLY cold. It actually feels like your skin is burning.

I live in Winnipeg- all that matters when its that cold is that your skin is covered. The wind is what will get you and layers are the best way to go.

Cover your ears nose and hands. Fur is a plus, and make sure you have layers. The big Michelin looking jackets are perfect. Also, wear thick socks, and leggings for under your jeans
