In theory, both are good. Communist systems, though, tend to exist by oppression of citizen freedoms, personal choice, etc, and the corruption tends to bloom early on. What one person or committee could PLAN an entire economic system that would be satisfactory for everyone? In a capitalist state, a variety of independent forces actually shapes the economy. The gov't of a communist state almost makes you a criminal for wanting to leave. Those same citizens often risk their lives to come HERE, where they prosper. They're always free to leave, but few do, and that should tell you something.

They both have severe flaws: communism (or rather, a command economy) suffers from shortages and surpluses, while capitalism (or rather, a market economy) suffers from poverty and callousness. In practice, pure capitalistic countries have suffered from unrest and rebellion (such as the United States in the 1890s) while pure communist societies have simply failed to outperform capitalist rivals and more or less disappeared. This suggests that capitalism is better - but neither is what I'd call fantastic.

Luckily, there are pretty much no countries in the world that practice either pure capitalism or pure communism - even the United States has some command economy features (such as social security), and even Cuba or China have some market economy features (such as private ownership).

Personally, I'd go with about 3 parts capitalism to 1 part communism. Shake well, then serve.

Capitalism, It allows choices. With Communism, you get what there is. Such as in North Korea, there's no food you go hungry.
Communism is loaded with favoritism also, you get based on your allegiance to the Party.
