hte answer is simpleit would be 6 and 8 for the product of 48 would be 6 times 8 because 6 goes into 48, 8 times and 8 goes into 48 6 times...as for the sum which is 14, 6+8=14 and 8+6=14...and your answer is 6x8=48 (8x6=48) and 6+8=14 (8+6=14)

Set up 2 equations: x + y = 14 and xy = 48. Rearrange the first equation so it looks like this: x = 14 - y. Substitute this value into the second equation... now it looks like this: (14 - y)y = 48. Multiply the left side. The result is: 14y - y^2 = 48. Rearrange as a quadratic equation... y^2 - 14y + 48 = 0. Either factor or solve by using the quadratic equation.

there is a pair of numbers that if you add them, you get 14. And if you multiply the same numbers together, you get 48.

To find the answer, think of all the ways to add to get 14 using 2 numbers. And think of all the ways to multiply to get 48. There will be a common combination and that is your answer.

Sum means the answer to an addition problem and product means the answer to a multiplication problem.
Start by listing numbers that sum (add) to 14
1,13
2,12
3,11
4, 10
5,9
6,8
7,7
Then multiply until you find one that has the right product.
