you can join many types of dissimilar pipe with a rubber coupling connector made by a company called Fernco.

there are two proper ways to accomplish this. One use a threaded coupling to adapt between the two. Two use a full metal jacket hose clamped fitting, one manufacturer is Furnco. The only location that has been allowed to be dissimilar in the past was underground Field fittings. There used to be a special glue specifically for this that was a light green color. The cleaner would be for the PVC only as there is no cleaning or priming required for ABS this is the reason why where it is still accepted most plumbers still use it, it requires no extra steps and the bond sets up faster so you don't have to hold it in place as long. The glue can be rated for use on both because the joint is considered solvent welded. It chemically melts the plastic together with a similar plastic, however with dissimilar plastics the plastics do not combine to form a bond and will eventually fail.
My money would be spent on a threaded connection between the ABS and the PVC and then continue with the PVC.

Technically it si not legal, by building code any way. Ive asked alot of people in my field and no one can give me a good answer why, except that it does not carry the nec stamp of approval. ABS was outlawed because when buildings caught on fire the burning pipes would release toxic fumes. If you are doing something that you will have inspected per a permit from the city/ county, then use a rubber fernco. Its a rubber sleeve with two band clamps on each end. If you are not going to be inspected, you can glue the two materials together without problem. The materials have the same size outside diameters. There is even a special glue made for this. It is still not approved for use by building codes though. (again, no good reason for this). It is avail at most plumbing supply stores, made by Oatey, called abs to pvc transition glue, green label. But again if your not being inspected, you can use the traditional purple primer and clear pvc glue. It works just fine.

It should be ok. The plumber who replaced some pipes for me did the same thing, joining ABS to PVC. I have not noticed any problems.

Just make certain that you use the proper glue that will adhere to both plastics.
