The first thing you need to do is get a microwaveable container such as a bowl or large coffee mug. Add to the bowl or coffee mug, a teaspoon of bleach or lemon juice and 8 - 10 ounces of water (approx 1 small tea cup). Microwave that for 2 minutes and the steam will begin the cleaning process for you with moisture. After the 2 minutes are up, carefully remove the container and then remove the large platter that comes with the microwave and wash that. It may need to be soaked in warm soapy water.
For the inside of the microwave, you can use a warm wash cloth and wipe clean. Do not use an abrasive or scouring powder.
After you have wiped the inside clean, repeat the process of heating a cup of liquid again, preferably with lemon juice.
Following that, clean immediately after use and purchase a cover for microwaving things. If you cannot get a plastic cover, then just make sure that all food is covered before warming. You may cover with another microwaveable plate but the cover for microwaving it better as it comes with small vents.
The cover will catch all splatters. Make sure not to cover with foil or metal though.

Dissolve a tbls. of baking soda in about a cup of water and microwave on high for 3-4 minutes, making sure that it boils for about 30 seconds. Let the condensation set for another minute, and wipe with a clean cloth, rinsing when necessary. The steam will loosen all the gunk, and the baking soda will clean the surfaces and eliminate any odors.
In the future always cover your food so it won't splatter. If you're using a plate or dish without a cover, cover the food with wax paper.

Put water and lemon juice in a measuring cup and let it boil. The steam will loosen the junk that's encrusted on your microwave. Then when it's done, should only take about a minute to minute and a half, just wipe it down with some paper towels or a cleaning rag. Hope this helps

What I do is take a lemon and juice it in a bowl of water. Place the lemon in the bowl and the bowl into the microwave. Heat on high for 10 minutes and leave the door closed for another 10 minutes. I then wipe the microwave out with a washcloth.

Put some water in a glass measuring cup- bring it to a good boil, let it boil about 30 seconds. Remove the cup, let the excess steam come out so you don't get burned, then use paper towels to wipe off the interior. The steam will loosen most baked on crud, and you won't have any soap residue.

mr clean magic erasers work really well, or you can try soft scrub gel, thought that will leave a bleachy smell, so i reccomend the magic erasers. to get rid of odors, cut a lemon in half, put it in a microwave safe bowl and heat for a minute or two.
