Just put ina new thermostat, and the heater core seams fine. When the moter is at normal operating temp. and you shut off the heater fan for a couple of minutes and the turn it back on, it blows hot air but only for a minute, the turns to slightly warm(more cool) air. Any suggestions would be great

You didn't get all the air out of the system. Take the cap off the radiator when it's cold and top it off.

There's a valve on the heater hoses that closes off water flow to the heater core when summer calls for air conditioning to be used. You might want to check that valve to make sure it is functioning properly. It may be a mechanical valve, or a vacuum operated valve (in which case you'll want to check the vacuum lines for age, cracking, & leaks of any kind.)

If you get hot air but only briefly then it must be the baffle door is not opening to allow the air to across the heater core in a consistent manner. Check to see if working as controller may need to be replaced
