I think you mean "You can observe alot by watching." I think it is because of malapropism which is an incorrect usage of a word by substituting a similar sounding word with a different meaning, usually with a comic effect. I enjoy Yogisms. That is one of the many reasons why Yogi Berra is one of the most beloved Yankees ever. I would like to share some of my favorite Yogisms:

You should go to other people's funerals or they won't go to yours.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

What time is it? You mean now?

No one goes there anymore. It's too crowded.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

The one you really need to have. You don't have it. That's why you need it.

If you get hurt and miss work, then it won't hurt to miss work.

And they give you cash which is just as good as money.

That aflac commercial is hilarious. If you don't like his Yogisms, then you don't have a sense of humor.

You know, a lot of the humorous lines and malapropisms of Yogi are probably true; but others may just be the creation of writers and friends. In any event, Yogi was and is a much more intelligent man than some of the lines would have indicated. His friend, Joe Garagiola, who grew up with Yogi as a child in St.Louis, loves to tell of Yogi's lines, and most of his are probably accurate.
The great thing about Yogi's lines....even though they are humorous, they are usually truisms. You can readily understand that when Yogi said "you can see a lot by looking", it certainly meant that you can observe a lot by paying attention ! Perfectly understandable, and good advice !

He said "you can observe a lot by watching", meaning you can see, learn, and make observations by watching and paying attention. It is actually a very intelligent statement by ANOTHER Yankee Hall of Famer!! GO YANKS!!!

Because he like to speak in riddles, as per his AFLAC commercials.
