Ive been in the mosh pit many times. I was 13 when i First moshed and I had a blast. I was smaller than 5'1 and the people were nice and built a wall around me and one guy i didnt know punched another guy in the face cause he knocked me down.
People are generally nice in the pit, but some get carried away. I say, try it and if you feel you are in danger get outta there quick before you get hurt.
Get one of your friends you are with to launch you or ask some one you dont know whos a little stronger. Make sure you crowd surf on your back because if you go on your stomach and you are a girl, you will get your boobs grabbed and it really hurts!

I think you should be fine. I'm the same height and I've never gotten hurt... but I'm heavy, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but there were people over a foot taller than me, but everyone is usually friendly and nice. I think you're safe.
