I am 36 weeks pregnant and have been having light contractions about 5-10 minutes apart for two days. I woke up this morning and the contractions had slowed way down put I feel like someone has kicked me in the groin. It feels bruised and every time I stand up my pelvic bones hurt. I called my doctor and she said that she's never heard anyone waking up with that pain but it sounds like ligaments stretching and that usually happens when you are on your feet a lot. I have been on bedrest for a week and a half so that couldn't be why I hurt. I am on pregnancy number three and have never wxperienced this pain before. can anyone please help me figure out what this is because my midwifes expalnation doesn't make sense to me??

Could be that the baby dropped. And now it's head is sitting on the pelvic bones, causing pain and pressure. Just a guess!

I agree, baby's dropped some and has stretched some of the ligaments that suspend the uterus and keep the pelvic floor up. "Dropping" can occur whether or not you're on your feet all day as it is a part of labor. In a multiparous woman like yourself (more than 1 delivery already) dropping usually occurs with the early stages of labor. In a primiparous woman (first preg) dropping occurs a week or so before labor. When is your midwife due to come and check your cervix?? You may be in early labor with cervical changes. You're 36wks so it's probably safe to deliver if necessary. So relax, breathe, and have fun!! That pelvic pain will be over soon enough, and you can take it. Just think, you're getting a new baby!!

I am experiencing the exact same thing right now. I have been having contractions that are a steady 5 mins apart for about an hour and then they slow down or stop completely. This has been happening for about 2 wks now. Then when I am lying down and try to pull myself up, my pelvic bones feel bruised and it hurts extremely bad. The only explanation that I have been given is that the baby has finally dropped (I am 41 wks and 2 days pregnant) and that there is nothing to worry about.

Good luck!

If you doubt your midwife then I hope she has a Doctor who backs her up in case of emergencies. I assume you trust the midwife but i would question her explanation when she says she hasn't heard of this before. I know where I live in the state of NH, a midwife is not allowed to deliver a baby in a hospital without a Dr being present. One can deliver at home or a birthing center with a midwife however. When in doubt go to an emergency room if you are in that much pain. An OB-GYN would be availaable to see you.

braxton hicks contractions can jiggle the baby down into your pelvis causing extreme pressure that can be painful and feel like a bruise. Avoid steps this makes it even worse believe me I was 105 pounds before I got preg with my son and 135 when I delivered and I had the same problem. Every womans different and my doctor hadn't heard of this type of pain before either until it happened to me. try to exercise to move the bay into a different position, YOGA worked really well for me because it casued my son to turn different and the pain was instantly gone... Good Luck You're almost there!

It could be a misalignment of your pelvic bones, normally there are exercises that could help, but I don't know what would be safe if you are on bedrest.

It is weird that your midwife isn't helpful, they usually are more helpful and generally don't but women on bedrest? Can you speak to another midwife? Can you go out to a chiropractor or registered massage therapist? These may help.

not all doctors know everything. with my first child i went through hell from week 33-37 with false labor and three days labor at home. on a thursday i went in to stop preterm labor and when i went home the next day my hips and groin hurt, it hurt really bad to pee. two days later, i called to doctor crying because i couldnt take the pain in my hips no longer, and he told me to come in and check it out, when i got there i was dialated to 8cm. go figure no one evertold me you could have pain in your hips like that. that pain was my pubic censes spreading apart preparing for the babys arrival. i hope this helps if your pain gets really bad call your doctor to check to see if your dialating every pregnancy is different. my second child went super fast the contractions were ten times worse but in the front of my stomach

My cats nonetheless have some years earlier than them except they finally end up demise a untimely dying. My lizards on the different hand are turning out to be extremely on the fringe of their age shrink. My oldest is 8 yrs previous and that i've got had her for the reason that she grew to become into 2 wks previous. i visit omit her a great deal each and every time she dies yet i does no longer get yet another. as quickly as I have been given her 8 yrs in the past, I have been given yet another one together along with her. That one finally end up demise at approximately 3 yrs previous. i did no longer plan on getting yet another lizard however the single left, the 8 year previous, grew to become critically depressed and does no longer circulate, consume or poop for a pair of million a million/2 mos. I finally end up getting her a mate and he or she has been super ever for the reason that. i'm hoping each and every time dying comes, the 8 year previous dies first as i be attentive to if her mate died first, she might have a puzzling time lower back being on my own. He, on the different hand, could be ok by skill of himself.
