hey you are not the only one that feels like that. i was in your spot before. i had many friends in my life and i always was in search for my true friends. Throughout my life, I had many special friendships but they tend to fade as time passed by. I used to be depressed because I had no one there to understand me and I felt like I was used. I realized that everyone that came into my life served a purpose and now that I am a little bit older I dont really care about having best friends. At least i have my family, my boyfriend of three years (i would consider him my best friend) and God. I had a few close friends and got to experience true friendships but they never really stayed in my life....
Hey, I think showing your trueself is important in a friendship because you never know that you can influence a friend and true friends accept you for you. A true friend will never walk out on you and will always be there no matter what. here's a list of what I think a true friend is:
1. understanding
2. a friend that knows you best
3. accepts your culture
4. knows your family well
5. would take a bullet for you
6. accepts who you are
7. friend that will call you right away when something exciting, scary, or traumatic happened to her
8. can fart in front of you (hehe i know kinda lame)
9. lets you borrow money, but never lets you pay her back
10. equality
11. someone who you can go shopping with
12. will laugh at you when you fall, but will pick you up and ask if you were alright
13. lend you a shoulder to cry on when you have guy problems
14. take you out to have fun when you are feeling depressed
15. true friends are like DUMB AND DUMBER...hehe..the three stoooges
i can go on and on..but here are some examples of what a true friend is like

You complain that your friends don't understand you, but then later in your post you say you don't show your true self to them.

Relationships are built on trust from both parties. You can't withhold information about yourself and expect your friends to understand you - they are not mind readers.

It takes time to build up the trust necessary for a close relationship. There will be times in your life when you do not have close personal friends near you. To get through these times I suggest you write your thoughts and feelings in a journal.

This is a question only personal experience can answer for you! Otherwise, you'll never know the meaning of true friendship!

Get involved with activities that you enjoy. School, Church or at the community center. You will meet new people or find that people you already know have a common interest with you.
