The electromagnetic spectrum covers all of "light", including visible light (called that because that's what we can see with the unaided eye), as well as forms outside the visible spectrum, such as ultraviolet, infrared, x-rays, and so on. See:

It would not be visible if we were not equipped with spacial sensors called eyes.
So in order to observe light sensors are needed.The range of viisbility for Humans is in the order of a frequency of 10^14 hz.
Outside those limits certain animals and insects are able to observe the flux of light rays in the spectrum of Ultra violet .
