i was watching this show on BBCAmerica, as i often do, and i know that american tv has more censorship than english/european (and probably the rest of the world).

anyway... this was a movie...and they said the f-word, and it glot bleeped out. i was wondering...does the f-word get edited in england as it does here?

thanks

oak...it is rather insulting. especially since it's not like we don't still hear it in our head when it's bleeped. i think the bleeps call more attention to it.

depends what time of day it is shown,,, we have a watershed of 9pm/2100 hrs, where anything before that time is supposed to be child friendly, doesnt always work out that way tho

we have a watershed here where certain swear words are bleeped before 9pm but after that its a free for all. censorship in america is a bit strang. I remember hearing that when the film trainspotting was shown in america they edited out the sex scene but left the scene with the dead baby in. Quite strange.

It can do. I find it interesting that it offends people more to hear a rude word or see someone's boob, than seeing someone get their head kicked in.
Personally, I take censorship as an insult to my intelligence. Of course, we should protect children from the more disgusting aspects of the adult world. But an adult has the knowledge and ability to read about the content of a programme and choose not to watch it accordingly. Why should those of us with liberal and open minds be restricted in an across-the-board way?

Strange, because American comedies that are shown over here. "Two and a Half Men" or "King of Queens" for example have words like ***, b**ch and ba****d bleeped out, so I figured America was more leniant on the censorship than we were.

Depends what time it's shown - if it's after 9pm then it won't be bleeped, but anytime before then it will be.

Depends what time it is screened. Pre 9pm bleeped, afterwards probably not

No not really, but no t.v shows are allowed to have swear words or scenes of a sexual nature before nine in the evening
