Yes. The ferret wants you to chase it. You can prevent the biting by chasing the ferret before it bites! This is how they play. If you chase it a lot, it will make happy noises and a happy smell too. This is different from the annoyed or scared scent they make, and it smells nice. They don't mind being caught, either. They just like to play.
If the ferret hides under the furniture, you can get it out by blockading the exits. It will think you are trying to trap it in there, and it will come out.
Ferrets are really playful and have a great sense of humor.

It's a very common behavior. I have 4 ferrets and always wear socks because of this. It's a combination curiosity/let's play behavior, and, since they have very sharp little teeth, shouldn't be encouraged because it's "cute", which it is. Wearing socks will usually prevent this and the application of bitter apple spray will work if the socks don't. Usually a combination of the two is quite successful. Also, since it may also be a bid for attention, as in "let's play", a little extra positive attention on a regular basis would be in order and might prevent recurrences in the future.

Ferrets love toes :)
Go get some stuff at the pet store called "bitter apple" and put in on your toes when the carpet shark is running loose.. It wont hurt them and they hate the taste. Might detour it from nibbling your toes in the future.

the two memories sound approximately as possibly to me. A pit bull only might at one time mistake a baby's ft for teats; something can ensue as quickly as. on the different hand, ferrets can bite as a demonstration of love--I communicate from journey--and that i will photograph a ferret accidentally slicing by using a baby's ft.

I had a rabbit that we sold to some friends and he would chase them around the house and bite their toes. I'm not sure if it's the same, but I'm thinking it's probably allong the same lines.
If so, then it's a dominance issue. You'll have to show your ferret that you are the top ferret. Do you usually keep him out? Try letting him out only at certain times and amke sure you only feed him in his cage.
If he just bites toes when you're sitting there then he needs a chew toy!

yah, my ferrets did the same thing, also to my dog! they are just curious, if they are babies, then they might be at that "put everything in my mouth" stage. you can blow on them when they do it, and say "no". you can train them not to do it by doing that, or use that bitter apple stuff at pet stores.

just get it something to chew on other than your toes. it is looking for attention and has learned chewing on toes is a good way to get some.
