The British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has provided a gem of a character in Borat (er, sort of)......what did the film tell you about the Americans he encountered?

What i understood from this film is that he managed to expose Americans by telling them what they already believed. For example, he started his film by presenting Kazakhstan as a country very poor, that underestimates women, that is very uncivilised and back to the 13th century and at the end he managed to show that Americans didn't differ much from all of these. He exposed their racism and their way of thinking about the others which was already known by all of us but never been presented in a movie.

I couldn't get beyond the clips on the TV. Seemed to be an extreem over exageration of everything. Guess the film gets rave reviews but I wouldn't watch it for free.

Nothing. Its fiction and used stereotypes. Why are stereotypes like those used in Borat OK, but gay or black stereotypes are considered offensive and immediately attacked as being untrue?

He showed me that he can be offensive. Sometimes he is funny, but when you do that at the expense of another's feelings it is time to switch him off.
