Is it possible that the unit (and/or the air surrounding it) reaches up to 135 degrees or more and this can be a fire hazard? Thanks.

I meant leaks in general from the system, but especially from the ducts.

A leak in what part of it? If you are talking about the refrigerant line, the answer is absolutly no on both parts of the question. Refrigerant gas does not burn unless it has been adulterated by adding the wrong things to it.

Actually, a closely related gas was formerly used in a specific type of fire suppresent system.

Why are you asking? Is there a problem?

It would not be a fire hazard, but under the worst conditions could set off sprinklers rated at 135 degrees. Your sprinklers have the operating temperature on them. Probably on the deflector.
