Yes... all the "stans" used to be part of India before muslims (and of course before the british) I heard that a guy wanted to nominate Ali-G for a Kazakhstinian award of some sort.

Yes... is over close to russia! It is spelled Kazakhstan. It was formerly a part of the Soviet Union, but when the soviet union split, it became a country.
