I have had knee pain off and on while on treadmill and walking for a month. A week ago it began to swell and I couldn't bend it without pain. Went to ER and they said needed MRI-had to schedule. Gave me brace and crutches. Pain is in medial knee are and top of knee. Swelling is moderate. I can sometimes bend it for short periods with no pain...but painful about 30mins after (like sitting cross leg doesn't hurt to bad until I get up). Nothing helps and I am exhausted ALL of the time! WHat could this be from? Hurts with brace and is always warm to touch. Getting some minimal swelling in back of knee and on top too.

I am only 31. I also get the grinding and clicking when I move it...sounds almost crepetious. I thought at first that it was no big deal because the stiffness is intermmitent, but the fatigue factor and considerable swelling is starting to concern me. I had a RA test done on Fri and am awaiting results. MRI is tomorrow

I have taken it easy in the last month on the treadmill...often trading back and forth with the precor so I wouldn't injure myself. I have already had three surgeries in the past year to repair tendonitis in my wrists from my work as a nurse. However, ortho is certainly not my expertise! I am having a difficult time with the immobility and the fatigue factor, as I am usually extremely active.

Could be arthritis, cartilage tear, or a plica. See an orthopedic surgeon after your MRI

Sound like it might be a meniscus tear and you will need an MRI and laproscopic surgery to repair it...but it's worth it.
