A terrific character... it was clear that he wanted Rose as a "trophy-wife" and as an access to her social posistion.
I think he was very well acted by Billy Zane, and was VERY appropriate to the period.
I'm not gonna say he's hot since I lean more towards Jessica Alba and Kate Winslet.

Billy Zane. Yeah he's great. Loved him in Dead Calm. He plays a good baddie. I don't think Cal ever loved Rose. I think she was just a trophy wife for him. It was all about possession with him. And she didn't love him. She was obviously forced into the marriage. I think there was just enough of him in the film. It meant you could hate him without having to go too deep into why he was like that in case we started to feel sorry for him. Sometimes it's good just to have a baddie in it for the sake of it.

I dont think his character loved Rose's character. He was abusive and controlling - those are boht not signs of love. I guess he is decent looking.
