I've been married for 41 years now, going on 42. Happy is a relative term. I truly don't believe anyone who says that they have been "happily married" for very long. Happily married was when I still had the "rose colored glasses" on, usually about the first 1-2 years.
Contented and peaceful with my choice? YOU BET YOU! We have had lots and lots of happy moments, hours and times together. We have endured many disagreements and eventually worked out a compatible arrangement to allow the other to BE different and to think differently, yet learn to work together to solve problems. We have confronted differences in the child rearing department and made it through some great times and some difficult times with our children.
Let's face it: LIFE can be really, really tough at times. With us, the rougher the times, the more we clung to each other and tried to be gentle with each other because the world around you can batter you at times.
Home must be a haven from the cruelty of the world, a safe place. If you treat each other with respect, love, caring, and support, Then your love will grow and mature. When he looks at me and tells me he loves me unconditionally, I can believe him and know in my heart that I made the right choice. I truly love him and we grab all the happiness we can in this life, separately and together!

Don't go away, if you are happily married I think that is great and you may have some advise for some of the people that have questions and need someones help that is not angry or hurt. It is a good place. When i found it I felt like you but now I feel so good when I can help someone. Try it, its very rewarding.

15 years, two kids and a whole lot of crap dropped on us...and we are still HAPPILY married. And when problems do arise as they will because we live in the real world. We talk. Marriage takes a little work and love is a verb.

I have been married to my love since July of 1989. There are going to be some hard times but there will be enough good to
out weigh the bad. I've heard about people divorcing because of
either cheating, money problems or finally seeing through their
rose colored glasses.

Happily married almost 15 yrs (will be in March) we met & married in 37days - definitely a whirl-wind courtship- although many ppl thought we were crazy - it's been the best decision of my life...he's my best friend,,,,,i wish everyone could experience the kind of bond we share, the world would be a much nicer, and happier place!!!

I guess people come here when they have problems so there is a concentration of bad marriages here but all the people I personally know and myself are happily married.

I am happily married to my husband for ten years. We also have four high achieving children. I only answer questions to try to give others guidance to have a happy marriage too. It's not just 50/50. Its 110/110.
