As a pretty frequent broadway theatre goer, I usually go with dressy casual for an evening performance, and neat-casual for a matinee.
For an evening performance, You'd probably feel the most appropriate in a nice skirt, a plain t-shirt or neat blouse (or even a sweater), and some comfortable but nice shoes. Or for the summer, a skirt and a nice tank top is always adorable.
For a matinee, you can wear pretty much anything. Usually I go with a nice pair of jeans and a more dressy blouse, and some casual shoes. Because it's a matinee, there will be more kids and casual families. Just make sure that you know "casual" from "messy"! :P And you wouldn't be out of place to wear makeup either (definitely not a must, but a lot of people don't know what to do about that.) Another tip: Don't wear your hair in a fancy up-do. It gets in the way of the people sitting behind you, which is no fun for them.
Whatever you decide on, make sure it's an outfit that you're comfortable in (you'll be in it for 2 1/2 hours, plus a 15 minute intermission just for the show!) and shoes that you can walk in (taxis are rather expensive, so if you're walking even just a few blocks, heels can hurt!)
Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Poppins is a fabulous show. Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee are incredible actors, and the show has gotten rave reviews. Not to mention, it's all the songs you know and love (plus some new ones!)

Don't dress too casual, nor too fancy. A nice black dress is fine, with a small purse and colorful flats? that's always fine. Or small heels. Have fun.

i would say a semi-formal black v-neck kneee high dress would be stunning.if not hat, try a flare out dress that compliments your skin. go with a sublte natural make-up look. wear kitty/strappy heels, and wear your hair in a bun or curl it w/ elegant curls.Wear delicate jewlery, and smile, and you will shine!!!!!!!!!!
